we grow old because we stop playing."
Learning Games: The Final Report
On October 30, W-Point submitted the final report of the Erasmus+ project 'Learning Games'.
After two years of experimenting with, discussing and evaluating games for learning we arrived at a very fair and convincing picture of what the project achieved and how we performed.
As in any report, the hard part was to distinguish dreams from the realities but after a very hard analysis of what should have been done, we still are proud of the way the project was prepared and conducted, and thankful for the cooperation, the generous contribution of all our partners as well as their friendship and understanding.
We received a lot of positive feedback and are awaiting the evaluation from the funding organisation, the Austrian National Agency of the Erasmus+ programme of the EU.
At the same time, we are looking forward to the kick-off meeting of 'N-Arts' the new fascinating project we are promoting.
Still playing ?
Portugal could not be a better place for our last project meeting:
Relaxing, Sunny, Friendly
The country is living through a full recovery from the crushing financial crisis, and looking to a bright future by investing in education and research.
In the traditional city of Braga close to Guimaraes, considered as the birthplace of Portugal, and a 40 minutes drive away from Porto, a financial centre in the Northern part of the country, we got in touch with more informal participants of the project.
Learning Games in Irkutsk
Prof. Ilka Birova recent book: "Games in Russian as a Foreign language. Research of Games as an Educational phenomenon." (Moskow, Evroshkola, 2017, 267 p. Russian language) was presented in Prague this year (February 6, 2018) and to our partnership during our meeting in Braga.
Validating validation
Validation is for every single project in adult education a question mark and since every project is an answer to needs and a call for improvement, quality, qualification we can not avoid the Meta questions about Validation. Who validates? What? When? Why? How?
The thematic seminar "Validation of non-formal and informal learning opportunities for special targets groups” organised by the Finish National Agency brought new proposals and at the same time further questions.
In this article, I try to analyse the proposed ideas from the Learning Games project perspective.
Learning Games Phase 3
As we enter into phase 3 of our “Exchange of Good Practices” project, the issues that we identified as key concepts to clarify the use of Learning Games have been elaborated on by our partners.
Games in Language Education
Ilka Birova is one of our strategic partners in our project Learning Games. She is Professor at the Department of Russian language at Sofia University, St. Kliment Ohridski, Bulgaria where she also got her doctorate. For many years Ilka has been using games as a method in foreign language teaching and is an acknowledged expert in the field.
